NATO has added Scout Space to its Spacenet program, expanding the initiative’s space domain awareness and in-orbit observation expertise to advance the alliance’s space defense objectives.
Scout Space CEO Philip Hover-Smoot said the company’s inclusion in the NATO program is part of a commitment to joining efforts to strengthen global space security.
“Our advanced technologies, including our vLEO SDA sensors and in-orbit observation platforms, are well-suited to support NATO’s mission to safeguard space infrastructure and maintain the stability of the space environment,” Hover-Smoot said.
“Through Spacenet, we will help bridge the gap between commercial innovation and defense requirements, creating a more secure and resilient space domain for all.”
Since starting to offer its products in 2021, Scout Space has engaged in various initiatives, including collaborating with SpaceWERX on space-based sensors and partnering with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to advance autonomous in-space threat response.
Introduced in 2024, the Spacenet initiative aims to enhance partnerships with the private sector, allowing NATO to maximize commercially available products and promote innovation in the space sector.
