Lockheed Martin Signs Cooperation Agreement With Germany’s Lufthansa Technik; Michael Williamson Quoted

Lockheed Martin has signed a memorandum of understanding with Lufthansa Technik, a provider of technical support for the aviation industry, to cooperate in delivering a range of services to global customers. The companies held a signing event at the Farnborough International Air Show.

Michael Williamson, president of Lockheed Martin International, said the agreement combines the two companies’ aviation expertise.

“I’m excited about the potential this cooperation holds, enabling us to deliver a range of high-quality and affordable sustainment solutions to our international customers,” he said. “This step reaffirms our commitment to partnering with European industry to enhance the resiliency of the defense industrial base.”

William Willms, chief financial officer of Lufthansa’s technology subsidiary, added that his company’s international network will serve an important role in the collaboration.

Lufthansa Technik is expanding its presence in the defense sector. The company recently established the LHT Defense subdivision and is vying to become a maintainer for the German Air Force’s upcoming fleet of F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters.
