Lockheed Martin has ordered AN/SPY-7(V)2 radar parts from three Spanish companies – Indra, Escribano Mechanical and Engineering and Integral de Conexión y Montajes – to enhance the global supply chain for the F-110 frigate it is building for Spain’s naval forces.
Amr Hussein, Lockheed Martin vice president and general manager of multi-domain combat solutions, said the “strategic collaborations” strengthen local industries and communities.
“These strategic collaborations empower local industries, strengthen communities and drive economic growth, all while providing the most advanced defense capabilities for 21st Century Security,” Hussein said. He added that the arrangement also diversifies the company’s supply chain and prepares it for production capacity expansion.
The company has been partnering with Spanish companies for over 20 years, developing radar technology and computing systems for air and sea.
In March, Lockheed signed an agreement with Spanish shipbuilding company Navatia, its partner in the F-110 project, to extend their partnership for another three years to pursue new opportunities in surface ships and submarines. According to Lockheed, the extended collaboration also puts on track the delivery of the first batch of F-110 frigates to the Spanish Navy in 2028.
