The U.S. Navy has awarded CAE Defense & Security USA a $57 million contract to provide the Indian Navy with MH-60R Seahawk helicopter pilot training devices.
Under the contract awarded through the Department of Defense’s Foreign Military Sales program, CAE will deliver an MH-60R tactical operational flight trainer and an avionics maintenance and weapons load trainer tailored to the specific needs of the Indian Navy.
The MH-60R TOFT is designed to connect a full-motion operational flight trainer with a weapons tactics trainer for rear-crew sensor operators and airborne tactics officers, while the AMWLT supports training maintenance and military personnel to prepare them for aircraft support missions involving critical tasks.
Both MH-60R TOFT and AMWLT will include hardware, courseware, network components and documentation for the MH-60 platform.
The contract also requires CAE to upgrade the trainers by providing modifications, including an identification friend or foe interrogator, an IFF transponder, a traffic collision avoidance system, an anti-ship missile and a depth charge.
CAE has been providing the U.S. Navy with MH-60 training devices for nearly two decades.
“CAE’s unmatched experience as a platform independent training and simulation provider enables us to develop and enhance solutions that advance mission readiness,” said Merrill Stoddard, division president at CAE Defense & Security USA.
