Serco, a global services company based in Hart, England, has secured a 12-month extension of its engineering and airfield support services contract at the British Royal Navy’s air stations in Yeovilton and Culdrose.
The extension exercises an option in the $26 million contract with a base period of four years and three months that the U.K. Ministry of Defence awarded the defense contractor in July 2020.
Serco’s key tasks under the contract include operational and training support to the helicopter forces at the two RN stations.
“Our teams at RNAS Culdrose and Yeovilton make a real impact by providing critical engineering support to help keep the Royal Navy flying 365 days a year and we are delighted to have had this contract extended by a further 12 months.” Doug Umbers, managing director of Serco’s Defence business, said in a statement.
In November 2022, Serco booked a follow-on MoD contract valued at an estimated $258 million to provide RN with marine services for an additional 27 months. A month before that, the Defence Ministry also exercised a three-year contract extension option in Serco’s support for maintenance, repair and operational services for radar at the Royal Air Force’s Fylingdales arm in North Yorkshire.
