Space Threat Information Provider Expands Monitoring Capabilities With UK Hub

The Colorado-based nonprofit Space Information Sharing and Analysis Center has expanded its space threat monitoring capabilities with the launch of its UK Global Hub.

Space ISAC Executive Director Erin Miller said the UK Global Hub “reinforces our commitment to protecting space assets worldwide and ensures that our members benefit from real-time information sharing, no matter where they operate.”

The new facility is expected to strengthen Space ISAC’s cyber and physical threat monitoring capabilities, helping its members protect their space assets from attacks and collisions. The new hub will also bring Space ISAC closer to having a 24/7 global threat monitoring and response network.

Lewis Feilder, U.K. defense air and space leader at Deloitte, emphasized the need to keep space secured amid its growing role in people’s everyday lives. “The U.K. has an important role to play in defending our collective interests in space. Being able to rapidly share threat information with global counterparts is a key pillar in space defense,” he said.

Formed in 2019, Space ISAC is a coalition of organizations dedicated to maintaining security in space. It is composed of private and public entities, including Deloitte, Lockheed Martin and the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

In March 2023, the group’s Watch Center gained initial operational capability. It has since been supplying partner organizations with information related to space vulnerabilities, incidents and threat information.
