Ukraine Deploys Lithuania-Funded Precision Weapons

The Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence has announced the delivery of advanced Ukrainian-made long-range precision weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The ministry said the weapons, funded through an $11 million bilateral agreement signed in December, are already operational on the frontlines.

Lithuanian Defence Minister Dovilė Šakalienė reaffirmed her country’s commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty. “Ukraine’s struggle for freedom is a fight for the freedom of Europe,” the minister said. “Lithuania will continue the support for as long as it takes for Ukraine to come out victorious.”

The two nations are now working on a second $11 million initiative to further strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. The effort falls under Lithuania’s broader push to back Ukraine’s defense industry. In November 2024, Vilnius and Kyiv signed a cooperation deal to jointly develop unmanned systems and electronic warfare technology. Lithuania also recently announced a $23 million investment to support Ukraine’s ammo acquisition.

Other European nations ramping up their military support for Ukraine include Sweden and the United Kingdom. In March, Sweden allocated $295 million to support Ukraine with its 18th military aid package while the U.K. partnered with U.S.-based defense firm Anduril to provide advanced loitering munitions to Kyiv.
