KBR to Continue Supporting Australian Defence Force’s ICT Networks

The Australian government has exercised an option allowing U.S.-based science, technology and engineering solutions provider KBR to continue delivering sustainment support to the Australian Defence Force’s Deployed Information Communications Technology for two more years.

The contract also includes delivering sustainment and support to the Royal Australian Navy’s Fleet Information System. The solution, also known as MINERVA, provides the military service with faster, more capable and more secure computer-based information systems, enabling ADF to achieve mission success even when operating in a complex environment.

“Key to the delivery of MINERVA is providing a cyber-worthy communications system that operates across and within secret, protected, official and coalition networks,” said Nicolas Maan, vice president for government solutions in the Asia Pacific at KBR. “This support will provide the Royal Australian Navy with decision superiority in the maritime domain, which is essential for Defence’s ability to conduct operations.”

KBR won the original contract in 2021 to provide the ICT nodes, which are currently deployed to the RAN, Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force.

The deal is the vendor’s latest extension contract from Canberra. In September, KBR closed a renewed deal to ensure continuous delivery of technical design services at the HMAS Stirling naval base in Perth.
