The U.S. Department of State has approved a potential sale of radio equipment to the Netherlands for an estimated cost of $1.42 billion. L3Harris Technologies will serve as the principal contractor for the project.
The Dutch government has requested L3Harris’ AN/PRC-117G, AN/PRC-152A, AN/PRC-160 AN/PRC-163 and AN/PRC-167 radios, tactical key loaders and network encryptors, plus technical assistance and other logistical support.
According to DSCA, the planned acquisition aims to enhance the NATO ally’s security and interoperability with other forces. The agency said Amsterdam plans to use the Falcon IV handheld and manpack radios to counter regional threats and support coalition and security cooperation initiatives.
The proposed sale follows the Netherlands’ recent requests to acquire extended-range joint air-to-surface standoff missiles from Lockheed Martin worth $908 million and AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II missiles from RTX valued at $691 million.
