Human resources veteran Stijn Nauwelaerts has joined NTT DATA as chief people officer, effective Nov. 18. In his new role, he will manage the IT service provider’s people and talent strategy, covering a 150,000-strong workforce in over 50 locations.

The new NTT DATA HR executive announced the news in a LinkedIn post Wednesday. “I could not be more excited for the opportunity ahead to help drive the talent and culture agenda and contribute to the aspiration to build a sustainable future with [a] positive impact on the world,” he said.

Nauwelaerts most recently served as corporate vice president for HR at Microsoft, overseeing the management of people and talent agendas across the firm’s subsidiaries worldwide. With over 30 years in the field, he has held several leadership roles, with a focus on empowering various organizations’ workforce. Prior to working at Microsoft, he was HR vice president at Bank of New York and legal counsel at Partena, where he provided advice on labor law and social security regulations.

NTT DATA President and CEO Abhijit Dubey welcomed the HR veteran’s addition to the company’s leadership team. “[Nauwelaerts has] deep expertise in leading people and culture transformation,” he said. “His experience and leadership will be critical at a pivotal time for our organization as we transform against a backdrop of a rapidly evolving technology industry and workforce of the future.”
