Lithuania’s National Cyber Security Centre, or NCSC, recently held the Cyber Shield OpEx cybersecurity exercise involving 75 critical service providers in the country.
During the event, the participants were trained on responding to ransomware and distributed denial-of-service attacks and website hacks, defacement and data leaks, Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence said Friday.
The cyber exercise also tested the capability of critical service providers to report cyber incidents to the NCSC, the Lithuanian Police and the State Data Protection Inspectorate and helped them improve their public communication skills to respond to media requests for comments on a potential cyberattack and provide technical data and recommendations to clients impacted by a data service outage or data leak.
“The exercise focused on challenging the organizations with as realistic conditions as possible as they needed to test their response, actions and ability to restore the service in case of a cyber-incident,” said Mindaugas Gedminas, head of the NCSC Competence Development Section.
