The U.S. Department of State has authorized the potential sale of F-15 fighter jets and related equipment to Israel for an estimated $18.82 billion.
Israel requested 50 new F-15IA aircraft and “mid-life modification kits” to upgrade its 25 existing F-15Is to F-15I+s. The package also includes engines, radars, missiles and other military equipment, with deliveries expected to begin in 2029.
Boeing, the project’s primary contractor, will also provide engineering, technical, logistics and construction support, software development and training-related services.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said the possible foreign military sale aligns with U.S. national interests and will enhance its ally’s ability to defend itself against evolving regional threats.
In June, Jerusalem entered a separate aviation deal worth $3 billion with the United States to acquire 25 F-35s for the Israel Defence Forces, aiming to reinforce its fleet of fifth-generation stealth fighters.
