Northrop Grumman, Mitsubishi Electric Extend Collaboration With Mission Solutions MOU; Kenn Todorov Quoted

Northrop Grumman and Mitsubishi Electric are planning to jointly pursue industrial co-production opportunities for various strategic mission solutions in the United States and Japan. The cooperation, provided in a memorandum of understanding that Northrop announced on Wednesday, extends to partnership in logistics and sustainment of key military capabilities such as electronic warfare, radar, underwater sensors and uncrewed underwater vehicles.

Kenn Todorov, sector vice president for strategic growth, mission systems, at Northrop Grumman, said the MOU expands the company’s long-standing relationship with the Japanese defense contractor. A partnership between the two companies to strengthen Japan’s missile defense capabilities was earlier announced in January.

“By bringing our mission systems capabilities to a trusted partner who has been providing defense systems to the Japanese Ministry of Defense for over 50 years, we further our commitment to Japan and continued stability in the Indo-Pacific region,” Todorov said in remarks announcing the MOU.

Masahiko Arai, Mitsubishi Electric’s corporate executive and senior general manager for defense systems, views the collaboration with Northrop as an effort to maximize both companies’ strengths. “By combining capabilities, we are confident that we can provide better products and services for our customers,” he said.
