Arcfield Secures $157M Contract for Continued Avionics Support of Canada's CF-18 Fleet

The Canadian Department of National Defence has awarded Arcfield Canada a $157.4 million follow-on contract for continued avionics in-service support of the country’s CF-18 aircraft fleet.

Jacques Comtois, vice president of operations at Arcfield Canada, said the agreement will ensure fleet availability and mission readiness for the CF-18 fighters until the fleet is deactivated.

According to the company, its Team Northern Sentry, consisting of Raytheon Canada, L3Harris Technologies, Palitronica and Terra Nova, will provide the Royal Canadian Air Force with a comprehensive aircraft sustainment solution.

Specifically, Arcfield will deliver avionics spare parts and end-to-end supply chain services to the RCAF for five years.

The DND estimated that the CF-18 contract would generate up to 370 highly skilled jobs in Calgary and inject $30.5 million annually into Canada’s gross domestic product over 10 years.

The investment will also enable Canada to meet its operational commitments with North American Air Defence Command and NATO until the permanent replacement fighter fleet of F-35s becomes fully operational in 2032.
