GM Defense's Infantry Squad Vehicle Participates in UAE Summer Trials

General Motors subsidiary GM Defense said its Infantry Squad Vehicle has completed the eight-day 2023 UAE Armed Forces Summer Trials in the United Arab Emirates.

Hosted by the UAE General Maintenance Corps, the event put the off-road vehicle under various trial phases, including operating with maximum payload capacities in extreme heat and diverse terrain and field repairs testing.

Bradley Watters, vice president of international business development at GM Defense, said the vehicle traveled in deep soft sand, hard-packed surfaces and over rocks, demonstrating its capability to meet the mission requirements of defense and government customers.

Steve duMont, GM Defense president, sees the company’s achievements in the Summer Trials as a key to expanding the business in the region, citing plans to offer the ISV and its variants to the UAE’s defense and government sector.

The ISV, a U.S. Army program of record, is a four-wheeled open vehicle based on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 platform and is designed for the rapid deployment of soldiers and military equipment on the battlefield.

According to an Inside Defense report, the Army plans to acquire 143 ISV units in fiscal year 2024.
