The Australian Defence Force has established a new group to oversee Australia’s digital information and communications capabilities.

According to Chris Crozier, chief information officer of the Australian federal government, the formation of the Defence Digital Group to replace the Chief Information Officer Group is a step forward in aligning the ADF’s information and communication posture and structure with the challenges it currently faces.

The group’s mission is also in line with the Defence Strategic Review unveiled to the public in April. “The Defence Strategic Review is a call for immediate action in light of our changing strategic circumstances,” Crozier said.

According to the official, the group will work closely with industry partners to ensure that its ICT strategy is clearly communicated and acquire the capabilities best suited to defend the nation against threats.
