Teledyne FLIR Defense has received a $31 million contract from Norway’s Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to deliver the Cerberus XL mobile counter-unmanned aerial system for Ukraine’s use.

Under the agreement, Teledyne will also provide software, spares and training support for the counter-UAS solution.

In a statement, JihFen Lei, executive vice president and general manager of Teledyne FLIR Defense, said the highly advanced Cerberus XL imaging platform is part of a complete counter-drone system that can help Ukraine’s defense forces.

According to the company, the surveillance platform will be sent to Ukraine as part of Kongsberg’s commitment under the International Fund for Ukraine program. Created by the United Kingdom and other international partners, IFU aims to acquire critical capabilities for immediate shipping to the war-torn country.

Cerberus XL can locate and track UAS targets using a combination of sensitive radar sensors and advanced thermal and visual imaging systems. With Kongsberg as the operator, the system will send information to remote weapons stations in its bid to eliminate the threat.

Other military hardware from Teledyne FLIR have made their way to Ukraine, including its Black Hornet nano-drone as part of a donation from the British and Norwegian governments.
