Oracle has unveiled Oracle Cloud for Australian Government and Defense for the Canberra region, a new platform that offers over 100 services that enable customers to build and run cloud-hosted applications.

Through the new region, government cloud users can access services, applications and integrated security capabilities to help them harness data and optimize workload, Oracle said. Its featured services include Oracle Autonomous Database, MySQL HeatWave Database Service, Oracle Container Engine for Kubernetes, Oracle Cloud VMware Solution and Oracle Cloud Guard.

According to the company, its existing agreement with Australia’s Digital Transformation Agency will allow the country’s government agencies to easily purchase Oracle products and services from the platform, which promises high performance, secure and powerful data analytics. It noted that the new region has completed the Infosec Registered Assessors Program process to comply with the Information Security Manual PROTECTED controls, meaning the cloud platform adheres to strict security standards.

In a statement, Andrew Barr, chief minister and treasurer of the Australian Capital Territory, welcomed Oracle Cloud for Australian Government and Defense, adding that the cloud service will bolster Canberra’s digital infrastructure and cybersecurity capabilities.
