Intelsat Expands Vodafone Collaboration, Makes Satellite Connectivity More Accessible in Remote Locations

Satellite communications provider Intelsat has expanded its collaboration with Vodafone to make satellite connectivity services more accessible to private and public organizations that operate in remote locations.

Under the new deal, Vodafone’s terrestrial networks gain new capabilities with the addition of Intelsat’s Flex portfolio. The enterprise-grade, end-to-end managed service — composed of 22 satellites, 228 beams, 17 teleports, and 100,000 miles of fiber connection — offers high-throughput, reliable connectivity anywhere in the world.

Jean Philippe Gillet, senior vice president of media, mobility and networks at Intelsat, underscored Flex’s benefits to first responders and relief agencies in remote locations.

“The welfare of communities and their citizens is increasingly linked to the ability to access reliable connectivity services,” he said. “The goal of our Flex services is to make it easier for our customers to leverage the reach and reliability of Intelsat’s network.”

In December, David Wajsgras, Intelsat CEO and seven-time Wash100 awardee, announced a business realignment initiative focused on dependable, secure satellite-based network offerings to accommodate market demand.
