Austria has expanded its contract with Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles to include delivery of a maximum of 300 trucks to the Austrian army under a 48-month timeline.
The expanded order, channeled through public procurement service provider Bundesbeschaffung, is primarily for RMMV’s HX line of vehicles, with a total value of over $328 million, Rheinmetall said Tuesday.
RMMV secured an earlier Austrian contract in spring 2023, which provides a seven-year framework for the delivery of up to 1,375 vehicles belonging to the HX, TGS and TGM series worth a potential $574 million total. With the additional order, RMMV’s contract with the Austrian Army could exceed $903 million in overall value, Rheinmetall noted.
The expanded truck supply contract is part of the Austrian Army’s Build-up Plan 2023, a comprehensive military modernization program with forces’ mobility as a key element.
Rheinmetall has also won a contract for the modernization of Austria’s Skyguard air defense systems, which is worth $570 million and labeled as a “flagship project” by Armin Papperger, the company’s executive board chairman.
