SkyAlyne Taps CAE for Canadian Air Force Training Under $1.2B Contract

Global defense and security firm CAE said it has secured a 25-year subcontract worth $1.2 billion from SkyAlyne, its joint venture with KF Aerospace, to support the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Future Air Crew Training program called FAcT for short.

CAE will work at RCAF’s 15 Wing Moose Jaw air base in southern Saskatchewan, providing live flights, simulation and ground school instructions. The company already operates at the base under the NATO Flying Training in Canada program.

The new subcontract initially calls for CAE to deliver training devices for installation in Moose Jaw and Southport in Manitoba for the various trainer planes that RCAF is procuring for FAcT.

CAE also expects a follow-on order for maintenance support services separate from the initial subcontract.

Marc Parent, CAE president and CEO, described FAcT as RCAF’s “most extensive training system recapitalization,” a program the company is proud to contribute to. “With FAcT, our priority will be to ensure the RCAF has the depth and the technical advantage it needs to support the mission readiness of Canada’s next generation of military personnel,” he said.

The main FAcT contract, valued at $8.2 billion, was awarded to SkyAlyne in May. It requires more than 70 training aircraft, including Airbus helicopters and Beechcraft King Air 260 fleets.
