Microsoft has appointed Andrew Allen as its chief digital and technology officer for U.K. government accounts from his former position as chief technology officer for public transport.
Allen said his new role focuses on the company’s public sector services in artificial intelligence, cloud computing and advanced digital solutions to help enhance efficiencies in government service delivery and citizen engagement. His CDTO function also involves the global tech company’s strategic partnership agreement with Crown Commercial Service for London’s enhanced access to Microsoft’s AI-based offerings.
Working with the company since 2016, Allen has contributed to the U.K. government’s adoption of AI-driven solutions, such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, designed for improved collaborations and automated processes. He started his career at Microsoft as a cloud solution architect before moving toward senior strategist roles such as CTO for central government and, later, for public transport.
His previous work included time with CenturyLink and Pepsico. He is also a part-time techUK digital twin steering board member.
