PsiQuantum, a quantum computing company based in Palo Alto, California, has partnered with Griffith University in Australia to open a new facility in Brisbane.
According to Geoff Pryde, senior director of technical partnerships at PsiQuantum, a dedicated facility to foster innovation and collaboration is essential to the company’s expansion in the country. “We’re thrilled to partner with Griffith University to develop this new lab at Nathan Campus that will see a specialized team play a major role in the development of our first utility-scale systems,” he said.
The new test and characterization laboratory, expected to open in early 2025, will operate cryogenic and room-temperature photonic quantum computing subsystems.
Carolyn Evans, vice chancellor and president at Griffith University, said the partnership will prepare more students in Queensland for a future-proof STEM career and build quantum research initiatives across the state.
The PsiQuantum-Griffith University collaboration follows an announcement in April of $614 in funding to support the development of PsiQuantum’s first quantum computer in Queensland state.
