Lockheed Secures FMS Contract to Deliver Two C-130J Super Hercules Aircraft to Egypt

Lockheed Martin will deliver two C-130J-30 Super Hercules tactical airlifters to Egypt under a Foreign Military Sales contract from the U.S. Air Force.

The Egyptian Air Force will receive the two air vehicles from Lockheed, making the country the 23rd nation to operate the Super Hercules.

“With these new C-130J-30s, the Egyptian Air Force’s tactical airlift presence will deliver unmatched capabilities and aligned force amplification to serve Egypt, North Africa and the world,” said Rod McLean, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin’s air mobility and maritime missions line of business.

In January 2022, the Department of State approved Egypt’s request to procure 12 C-130J-30 Super Hercules aircraft and related equipment for $2.2 billion.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said at the time that the aircraft will provide airlift support for Egyptian forces, including moving supplies, equipment and people, to strengthen border security, combat terrorism and internal security threats, and provide humanitarian aid.

The aircraft offers interoperability with NATO and partner nations, low life cycle costs, and reduced carbon footprint.
