BAE Systems Acquires Defense and Security Business Kirintec to Boost Electronic Warfare Portfolio

BAE Systems has announced its purchase of Kirintec, a U.K. company specializing in electronic warfare products supporting military cyber and electromagnetic activities, for an undisclosed amount.

The Herefordshire-based company will be integrated into BAE Systems’ Digital Intelligence business, led by Group Managing Director Andrea Thompson. The acquisition includes a plan to support increased investment in Kirintec product development to deliver more innovations to a wider customer base in the United Kingdom and allied countries.

Kirintec’s EW products include solutions against improvised explosive devices and uncrewed air systems with open architecture enabling multi-domain operations across military platforms.

Thompson said Kirintec is a “welcome addition” to the company given the growing role of cyber and electronic warfare on the battlefield.

“Together, our complementary capabilities will help our armed forces secure electromagnetic spectrum dominance and conduct operations with a reduced risk of casualties or operational setbacks,” she said.

For his part, Kirintec CEO Nick Watts stressed the importance of expanding CEMA solutions to address demand and grow to the level customers require.
