The Dutch government has secured the U.S. Department of State’s approval of its $305 million foreign military sale request for CH-47 and AH-64 helicopter training and related equipment.
According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the proposed sale will enable the Netherlands to maintain CH-47 and AH-64 training activities at Fort Cavazos in Texas.
The 302 Squadron of the Royal Netherlands Air Force participates in military events at the U.S. Army installation, including the American Falcon exercise, which certifies Dutch military units and personnel who often support U.S.-led coalition operations for deployment overseas.
Under the potential FMS deal, approved by the Department of State, the Netherlands will also purchase training ammunition, Army Supply Class I-VI and VIII-X items, information technology equipment, ground components, parts and accessories, Installation Management Command-related service support, U.S. government and contractor personnel assistance, and other related logistics and program support services.
The proposed sale will improve the security of the NATO ally and support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States, DSCA said.
