Embraer has secured a contract with the Dutch Ministry of Defense to deliver nine C-390 Millennium aircraft. The joint purchase agreement will supply five C-390s for the Royal Netherlands Air Force and four aircraft for the Austrian Air Force.

The aerospace company said the procurement will improve the European countries’ ability to rapidly move personnel and equipment even in difficult operational environments. The deal will also allow Amsterdam and Vienna to conduct collaborative efforts in training, logistics and future platform advancement.

According to Embraer President and CEO Bosco da Costa Jr., the military transport aircraft offers a combination of high performance, advanced technology and low life cycle costs.

“We welcome the Netherlands and Austria as the newest members of the growing group of nations that have ordered the C-390 Millennium, the most efficient and modern military tactical transport currently in operation,” he said.

Under the contract, Embraer will start shipping the Brazilian aircraft between late 2027 and early 2028, with the Netherlands receiving the first three units, Aviation Week Network reported.

The company said the C-390 Millennium provides increased operational flexibility and responsiveness to customers by offering enhanced performance, reliability and transport capacity, and enables interoperability and connectivity in networked environments and multiple domains.
