Rheinmetall is adding biomonitoring functions into its Gladius 2.0 soldier system through collaboration with Austria’s QUS Body Connected.
Gladius 2.0 will support live data tracking of soldiers to enable adjustments during training and ensure optimal fitness development. Deployed during actual warfighting operations, the technology will provide commanders with the latest data on individual soldiers or the whole unit’s physical condition.
The company said the envisioned joint solution will support tactical information superiority, boost soldiers’ performance, and enhance the battlefield command process.
According to Rheinmetall Chief Digital Officer Timo Haas, the added component to the Rheinmetall soldier system would help commanders make critical decisions.
“Biomonitoring, as we know it from competitive sports, will also play an important role for soldiers in the future to optimize operational readiness,” Haas said.
For QUS CEO Hannes Steiner, the joint solution combines the best the two companies can offer to protect “the infantryman of the future.”
