A joint circular from three Chinese agencies announced restrictions on Chinese exports of some technologies and components for the aviation and aerospace industries, effective July 1.
According to the state-run Xinhua News Agency, the circular also cited items such as specialized polyethylene fiber and manufacturing inputs for gas turbines.
The agencies—the Ministry of Commerce, General Administration of Customs, and the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission—pointed out that export controls are not directed against a specific country or region and that exports complying with regulations will be authorized.
The export curbs were issued for national security reasons and to meet Beijing’s obligations on nonproliferation and other international commitments, they added.
Responding to media queries, a spokesperson from the Ministry of Commerce said that implementing export controls “is an international practice” for special molds and fiber materials. The spokesperson also stressed the Chinese government’s opposition to parties sourcing controlled items from China to pursue activities jeopardizing the country’s national interests.
