Ultra Intelligence & Communications has introduced its Archer family of troposcatter beyond-line-of-sight communication systems for the global defense market. The company said Archer has demonstrated the capability of sustained communications beyond 185 kilometers and meets the U.S. Army’s standards for a secure communication platform.

Chris Bishop, Ultra I&C chief growth officer and a Potomac Officers Club member, said going international with the Archer systems manifests the company’s “ability to invest, innovate and deliver on crucial capabilities” when customers need them most. “We pride ourselves on building solid, trusted, long-term customer partnerships,” Bishop added.

Ultra I&C disclosed that the Archer platform underwent testing in varying operational environments to assess its capability to counter interference and jamming, as well as operate in areas with limited fixed communications.

According to Faith Rhodes, Ultra I&C vice president of programs for communications, the troposcatter system is a cost-effective platform for times when satellite communications are not accessible because of jamming or wrong location.

Based in Austin, Texas, Ultra I&C provides services and solutions to defense organizations worldwide, including the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.K. Ministry of Defence and the Canadian Department of National Defence.
