Germany’s national cybersecurity authority has certified BlackBerry’s Unified Endpoint Management for mobile device management on Apple iNDIGO devices.

The MDM certification from the Federal Office for Information Security allows agencies to now store government information on iOS devices employees use at work.

According to BlackBerry, BSI evaluated its UEM solution based on the agency’s Common Criteria Standards, Evaluation Assurance Level 4. It noted that the authority’s strict security criteria for Apple iNDIGO devices demand a UEM solution that provides the highest security level when transferring confidential information to mobile devices.

“BlackBerry UEM being recognized as the first to receive BSI clearance will mean the German government and KRITIS [critical Infrastructures] organizations can now move ahead with plans to support their users’ choice of devices without risk of compromise to essential compliance and confidentiality,” Hans-Peter Bauer, BlackBerry’s senior vice president for EMEA sales and cybersecurity, said in a statement.

BlackBerry said its UEM solution holds the most government certifications in the market, with NATO and the U.S. Department of Defense Information Network among its users.
