Starlab Space Launches European Subsidiary to Expand International Presence

Starlab Space has officially launched Starlab Space GmbH, its first overseas subsidiary. The new subsidiary aims to showcase the company’s capabilities, foster global cooperation and expand research collaborations in the commercial low Earth orbit segment. Manfred Jaumann has been nominated as the subsidiary’s managing director.

The U.S.-based commercial space station company co-owns the European subsidiary with Airbus Defence and Space. According to the agreement, the European unit will use Airbus’ advanced space infrastructure facilities and its team of experts to support the ISS Columbus Module and the European Service Module for NASA’s Orion spacecraft.

Starlab CEO Tim Kopra highlighted the subsidiary’s crucial role in the future establishment of a successful commercial space station. “Joining American and European presence sets the stage for life beyond the ISS, one that has a global, permanent crew thriving in low Earth orbit and leading research that can transform all of humanity,” he said.

Starlab Space originated from a vision that international business cooperation would be essential for the success of the International Space Station. The U.S.-led joint venture comprises Voyager Space, MDA Space, Airbus and Mitsubishi Corp., with strategic partnerships from Ohio State University, Palantir Technologies, HIlton and Northrop Grumman.
