Stephanie Crowe Takes Helm at Australia’s Cybersecurity Center

The Australian Signals Directorate has appointed Stephanie Crowe as the new head of the Australian Cyber Security Centre.

Crowe previously led ACSC’s Cyber Security Resilience Division, where she was tasked to deliver technical programs, services, and publications across government and industry and improve the security and resilience of critical networks.

Her 15 years at the directorate included previous roles that helped design programs to enhance Australia’s cybersecurity situational awareness and incident response capabilities and supported key national events such as elections, the e-Census and the G20 summit.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Richard Marles expressed his confidence in Crowe, saying, “Her experience and expertise across the cyber domain sees her well placed to lead the Australian Cyber Security Centre at a time where we see Australian networks increasingly targeted by malicious cyber actors.”

Crowe’s appointment follows Abigail Bradshaw’s selection as ASD director-general.

Australia faces a growing number of cybersecurity threats from state-sponsored hackers and criminal groups targeting government operations, critical infrastructure and businesses.
