Liberty Defense, a company specializing in artificial intelligence-powered security detection technologies, is preparing to showcase its HEXWAVE scanner to a U.S. allied nation in the Middle East. The trial, co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense’s Irregular Warfare Support Technical Directorate, aims to evaluate the system’s effectiveness in detecting explosive threats.
Bill Frain, the CEO of the company based in Wilmington, Massachusetts, emphasized the opportunity to demonstrate HEXWAVE as part of Liberty Defense’s mission to enhance clients’ security detection capabilities.
“Over the past few years, we have been expanding our technology stack investing $50 million focused on collaborating closely to protect our allied nation partners on potential security applications for HEXWAVE, and today we’re excited to bring the technology to the region for evaluation,” he said.
The HEXWAVE system allows organizations to accelerate and automate the screening of individuals through a high-throughput, contactless walkthrough portal. The threat detection solution uses millimeter wave technology, video-rate 3D imaging and AI to detect metallic and nonmetallic weapons. It can be deployed at borders, checkpoints and critical facilities.
With increasing political tensions worldwide, nations invest more in technologies to safeguard against adversarial threats. The Philippines is collaborating with Israeli firm RealEye.ai to enhance the early detection of cyber threats. In France, Thales and Exail are set to deliver naval mine detection capabilities using A18-M autonomous underwater vehicle systems.
“In today’s uncertain global landscape, security is more crucial than ever, and we are eager to play a role in providing a solution,” Frain said.
