AWS Highlights Generative AI Innovation at Public Sector Symposium

Innovations spurred by generative artificial intelligence took center stage at Amazon Web Services’ Worldwide Public Sector Symposium.

At the event in Canberra, Donna Hutchison, executive lead of the Australian Epilepsy Project, highlighted how AWS and generative AI are aiding the development of a platform that integrates multimodal datasets to revolutionize neurological care in Australia.

Meanwhile, Sam Jones, executive director of corporate services at the Victoria Office of Public Prosecutions, introduced Amicus X, a generative AI-powered legal assistant developed with Amazon Bedrock that is capable of accelerating case decisions and identifying inconsistencies in evidence.

Dave Levy, vice president of AWS Worldwide Public Sector, also announced the Generative AI Impact Initiative, a $50 million initiative to foster generative AI innovation in the public sector. The two-year global effort will provide financial support, training and technical expertise to AWS’ new and existing government clients, helping them harness the potential of the emerging technology in tackling societal challenges.

AWS also announced its investments worth over $13.6 billion in Australia and New Zealand to develop and upskill the region’s digital workforce.
