The Netherlands Subscribes to Maxar Intelligence’s MGP Pro Geospatial Services

The Dutch Ministry of Defence has awarded Maxar Intelligence a $14 million contract to subscribe to the Maxar Geospatial Platform Pro and related products for four years. The deal benefits the ministry’s Defence Geographic Agency, providing its workforce access to geospatial foundational data and a derivative product portfolio to support the team’s mapping, intelligence and operational support missions.

Anders Linder, general manager for International Government at Maxar, noted that the Netherlands’ decision to use the geospatial solution comes amid growing geopolitical instability. “Governments trust the capabilities and security of Maxar’s platform to enhance their foundational geospatial data layers and provide timely, mission-critical insights that support requirements across all domains,” the executive said.

MGP Pro, formerly SecureWatch, provides organizations with high-accuracy, high-resolution satellite imagery and analytics under a single platform. It offers over 125 petabytes of the highest quality imagery from over 20 years, more than 3.8 million square kilometers of new imagery every day and customized flexibility with its simple APIs and web interface.

The Netherlands has been investing in equipping its warfighters with solutions to provide greater protection against growing complex threats on the battlefield. In December, State Secretary for Defence Gijs Tuinman disclosed in a letter to Parliament plans to purchase personal anti-drone kits following the technology’s increasing use.
