BTQ Partners With South Korean Quantum Organizations

Canadian quantum tech firm BTQ Technologies has signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korea’s Future Quantum Convergence Forum, Quantum Industrial Standard Association and Future Quantum Convergence Institute to advance business growth, international expansion and industrial cooperation in quantum technologies.

The organizations will collaborate to establish quantum industrial standards, co-host events and seminars to share knowledge, and encourage partnerships. Additionally, they will develop programs to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Commitment to Quantum Innovation

The initiative aligns with South Korea’s goal to become a global leader in quantum innovation by 2035. In 2023, the country enacted the Quantum Technology Industry Act and unveiled its Quantum Science and Technology Strategy. Goals include developing a 1,000-qubit quantum computer and a 100-kilometer quantum network, training thousands of quantum experts, and creating 1,200 quantum technology companies.

Nicolas Roussy Newton, chief operating officer of BTQ Technologies, said the partnership underscores his company’s commitment to driving quantum innovation globally. “Collaborating with leading organizations like FQCF, QuINSA and QCI enables us to accelerate the development of cutting-edge quantum solutions while building stronger ties with the South Korean quantum ecosystem,” the executive added.

This latest partnership follows other recent initiatives by BTQ, including a new research collaboration with Macquarie University to enhance quantum algorithms and computing and a project funded by the National Research Council of Canada to develop secure quantum random number generation.
