Rheinmetall and Hologate have agreed to cooperate in creating new simulation capabilities that meet the needs of modern military training.
Under the partnership, Rheinmetall will contribute its expertise in military training systems while Hologate will use its experience in developing extended reality simulation technologies to build new offerings tailored to customer requirements worldwide and designed to address present and future training challenges.
Hologate’s existing products include the mobile extended reality motion simulator HGXR SIM for helicopter, truck and boat simulations. It has an open system architecture and virtual control panels that enable users to quickly switch between different vehicle models and an advanced motion tracking technology that minimizes latency and simulates dynamic g-forces of up to 2g.
According to Hanno Tabeling, head of system technology for driving simulation at Rheinmetall, the partnership will enable his company to expand its virtual and extended reality training and simulation solutions portfolio and offer customers more realistic and flexible training options.
“The development of a VR driving simulator for training military drivers is the first tangible result of our collaboration,” Tabeling said.
