DLA Director Visits Europe, Highlights Capabilities Offered to Partners

Army Lt. Gen. Mark Simerly, director of the Defense Logistics Agency, highlighted the United States’s commitment to ensuring nations in Europe and Africa possess the necessary technologies to address conflicts in remarks during a visit to Europe that ended Wednesday.

Simerly met with DLA Europe & Africa senior officials to discuss the teams’ unique logistics requirements to improve defense capabilities in both regions. DLA Europe & Africa has been assisting Ukraine with maintenance, repair and operations support in its war against the Russian invasion.

Army Col. Adrian Sullivan, commander of DLA Europe & Africa, commented on the importance of Simerly’s visit, saying, “His message throughout each engagement focused on contested logistics challenges, predictive data analytics and how we align with the Regional Sustainment Framework.”

The DLA chief’s trip included discussions with U.S. Army Europe and Africa officials on the agency’s role in the Pentagon’s 2024 Arctic Strategy, which lays down plans for securing stability in the polar region as part of an initiative to safeguard U.S. national security.

Simerly also met with NATO Support and Procurement Agency representatives to discuss matters regarding the U.S. Foreign Military Sales program.
