AWS to Deliver Secure Cloud Platform for Australian Defense Community; Dave Levy Quoted

Amazon Web Services is extending its expertise to the Australian government as it rolls out a more secure communications network for the nation’s defense community.

On Thursday, Canberra announced that the Australian Signals Directorate has signed a strategic partnership with AWS to deliver a Top Secret Cloud platform. Under the pact, AWS will provide a solution capable of hosting classified data and allowing users to share and analyze sensitive information.

The deal is part of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s strategy to invest at least $2 billion over the next decade to enhance the country’s cyber capabilities. The premier said that his government is embarking on a journey to improve Australia’s defense capabilities at a time when a wide range of security challenges are threatening the lives of Australians.

Dave Levy, Worldwide Public Sector vice president at AWS and a Wash100 winner, said the contract will enable the Australian government and its intelligence agencies to share information and achieve their mission faster securely.

“We look forward to supporting the Australian government’s mission of protecting and advancing Australia’s interests and remain steadfast in our long-term commitment to Australia, helping drive innovation and improving lives for its communities,” he added.
