Rheinmetall-Anduril Collaboration Seeks New Defense System Against Small Drones for European Warfighters; Oliver Duerr Quoted

German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall and U.S. defense technology company Anduril Industries will collaborate to develop and manufacture a new counter-small unmanned aerial system, initially for the European market. The collaboration follows a memorandum of understanding that the companies signed at the ongoing Eurosatory defense trade show in Paris.

Under the joint C-sUAS project, Rheinmetall will contribute its Skymaster command and control system and high-powered guns while Anduril will bring in its AI-enabled, interoperable Lattice software platform and hardware components, including sensors and an autonomous interceptor.

Oliver Duerr, Rheinmetall Air Defence CEO, expressed confidence that the combination is right for future client needs and will deliver in the time of need. “This cooperation will showcase the most innovative C-sUAS system, combining the strength of Rheinmetall military capabilities and the cutting-edge development speed of Anduril,” he said.

Greg Kausner, Anduril’s senior vice president of Global Defense, noted the speed with which technology development is accelerating the pace of warfare, and defense forces worldwide face rapidly evolving threats that require layered, rapidly deployable countermeasures.

“Anduril’s partnership with Rheinmetall will bring an innovative, software-defined and hardware-enabled C-sUAS system to our customers to ensure they stay one step ahead of the drone threat,” he said.
