KBR Secures Contract to Support Iraq Megaprojects; Jay Ibrahim Quoted

KBR will work with the Iraqi government on sustainable infrastructure development in the region.

On Tuesday, the Houston-based company announced that it secured a contract valued at $46 million to provide differentiated advisory and consultancy, feasibility studies, technical reviews, project management, and economic planning and strategy development support to Iraq’s Ministry of Planning.

The contract has a five-year period of performance.

“This is a great example of KBR utilizing its growing global capabilities to support regeneration and sustainable growth of a nation,” said Jay Ibrahim, president of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions. “We are proud to further our partnerships in [a] country where we are already helping make our customers’ ambitious plans a reality.”

KBR is also involved in Iraq’s energy independence effort. In April, it was among the firms that signed a series of agreements with Iraqi entities to process natural gas from the nation’s oilfields.

During his recent visit to Washington, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said the Middle Eastern nation has the potential to “achieve energy self-sufficiency by 2030.”
