Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has named Harald Kleven as vice president of advanced solutions focused on defense systems.
Kleven, who announced the appointment in a LinkedIn post, has served the company in various positions for over three decades.
According to Tor Martin Myrhaug, who previously worked under Kleven’s leadership, the new Kongsberg advanced solutions VP has decades of experience in product management, general management and project management in the area of telecommunications.
Kleven joined the defense and aerospace unit in June 1990 as a customer support engineer. He worked his way up to hold leadership positions in the company, including general manager for Kongsberg Group Middle East, department manager for defense communication projects, and programs director and vice president of defense communications.
Before joining the company, he spent nearly four years serving in the Norwegian Army.
Kleven assumed his new role after the company secured a $127.61 million contract with the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency to deliver new National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems by 2027.
According to a European Security & Defence report, the contract work includes providing new multi-missile canister launchers and establishing new fire distribution centers for NASAMS.
His appointment also comes amid fresh company investments in equipment and machines at its new missile factory in Norway for increased production capacity.
