Australia’s Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre will integrate the Nvidia CUDA Quantum toolkit into its national supercomputing and quantum computing innovation hub.

According to Nvidia, the setup will enhance the Perth-based center’s programming capabilities with CUDA’s hybrid central processing unit, graphical processing unit and quantum processing unit.

Other features that will be available to the center’s researchers include the Nvidia cuQuantum software development system with optimized libraries and tools for fast-tracking quantum computing workflows. The company said that the Grace Hopper Superchips of the CUDA quantum platform enhance its open-source hybrid quantum computing performance.

Eight Grace Hopper Superchip nodes based on the Nvidia MGX modular system will power the Pawsey system. The setup will combine an Arm-based Nvidia Grace CPU with an Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPU in one package, eliminating the typical CPU-to-GPU peripheral component interconnect express system.

Nvidia noted that such a framework results in a sevenfold increase in bandwidth between GPU and CPU compared to the latest PCIe technology. Researchers can also derive applications’ performance 10 times higher when computing terabytes of data, enabling solutions to complex problems, it added.
