NATO Awards Saab RBS 70 Bolide Missiles Contract

The NATO Support and Procurement Agency has placed an order for RBS 70 Bolide missiles from Saab.

On Friday, the company announced that it received the $35 million order, which it expects to deliver starting in 2027.

The missile system has an installed base in over 19 locations around the world, with 1,600 RBS 70 systems and over 18,000 missiles delivered, Saab said.

The Saab missile is a third-generation, all-target, short-range air defense missile capable of targeting various threats, including fixed and rotary wing aircraft and unmanned aerial systems.

Besides working with NATO, the defense contractor is also collaborating with other nations. In November, it received a support services contract valued at $76.2 million from South Korea, requiring it to deploy a support team in the East Asian nation and provide back-office support handled by a team in Sweden.

It was also tapped by the U.S. Navy to provide a Double Eagle semi-autonomous remotely operated vehicle for the Kuwait Naval Force, offering a solution for mine disposal and underwater threat detection and identification.
