QinetiQ Appoints William Blamey as UK Defense Interim Chief Executive

QinetiQ, headquartered in Hampshire, London, has appointed William Blamey as interim chief executive for the defense sector

In his new role, Blamey will lead the defense technology company’s efforts to meet the needs of the U.K. Ministry of Defence and international allies. 

Blamey, who announced his transition to the new role on LinkedIn, is an experienced leader with over 15 years of experience in the defense industry in both the United Kingdom and the United States. 

He joined QinetiQ in 2018 as managing director overseeing the company’s long-term partnering agreements and providing test, trials, training and evaluation services to government and industry customers.

He also held the role of managing director for maritime and land, where he led a team to meet the needs of the MoD, the Royal Navy and the British Army prior to his appointment.

Before QinetiQ, he oversaw the development and delivery of submarines, including the dreadnought nuclear-powered ballistic missile-armed submarine, for the UK Royal Navy at BAE Systems. 

Blamey is a graduate of Royal Holloway, University of London with a degree in mathematics.
