Elbit to Equip Israel With Advanced Communication Tech Under $130M Contract

Defense company firm Elbit Systems will deliver a wide range of advanced communication systems to the Israel Defense Forces under a contract worth about $130 million. The Israeli Ministry of Defense’s Directorate of Defense Research & Development announced the acquisition on Monday. The deal covers software-defined radio, satellite communication systems, and the expansion of regional maintenance centers.

“These systems serve as the foundation of a digital army, utilizing a dynamic, intelligent and cognitive network to enable multi-domain connectivity and operational superiority,” said Haim Delmar, general manager of C4I & Cyber Systems at Elbit.

“Our technology provides real-time situational awareness, ensures information availability, and delivers precision and adaptability in complex and rapidly evolving battlefields.”

Israel and Elbit have a long history of collaboration. The two entities previously worked on exploring innovative secure and encrypted communication technologies that meet the evolving needs of the IDF, which forms part of an initiative that would strengthen Israeli businesses’ manufacturing capabilities.

The defense contractor is also under a $190 million contract to equip the nation’s armed forces with the Iron Sting mortar munition.
