US, UK to Tackle Global Disinformation in 2025 Phoenix Challenge Conference

The U.S. Department of Defense is inviting participants, speakers and exhibitors to the annual Phoenix Challenge conference on the information operations environment, which will be held from March 4 to 6, 2025, in London.

DOD’s Office of Information Operations Policy and the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence, Military Strategic Effects are co-sponsoring the event, dubbed “Phoenix Challenge London 2025: The Disinformation Kill Chain.” According to the DOD’s event announcement on Friday, the conference’s 2025 theme was chosen to enable discussions on approaches, gaps and opportunities to counter malicious global disinformation activities.

DOD said participation in the Phoenix Challenge is open to technical information professionals and leaders in the government, private sector and academia. The conference’s accompanying expo has already drawn several vendors, including Blackbird.AI, Graphika and Vannebar Labs.

The upcoming event seeks to follow through on the March 2024 Global Information Conference held in Washington, D.C., focused on the theme “From Strategy to Action.” With its build-up goal, the 2025 Phoenix Challenge aims to fine-tune and advance learnings from the previous conference on proactive efforts against global disinformation campaigns.

DOD initiated the Phoenix Challenge in 2000 as part of its broader Global Information Conference series. London also hosted the event in 2023.
