Carmen-Maja Rex will join European aerospace firm Airbus SE as chief human resources officer in 2025, succeeding Thierry Baril, who held the post for 12 years.
As the newest member of the company’s executive committee, Rex has years of experience in the human resource field. She started her career as a change management consultant for Accenture in 1999. She then worked at the United Nations and Siemens, where she began as operational field HR support and later took on several HR leadership roles.
Rex currently serves as human resources group director at construction materials manufacturer Heidelberg Materials.
“The bold transformation that Airbus will now undertake to meet its current and future challenges requires a skilled, diverse and motivated global workforce,” Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said in remarks welcoming the new appointment. “I’m looking forward to working with Carmen-Maja and further engaging the Airbus teams in pursuit of our inspiring purpose.”
The chief executive also extended his gratitude to Baril for his contributions to building the foundation for the company’s success. “Thierry has played a pivotal role in the transformation of Airbus over the years, positioning HR as a strategic function in times of deep change,” Faury said.
