L3Harris has opened a new WESCAM Authorized Service Center in Bologna, Italy, to provide support for its WESCAM MX-Series electro-optical/infrared systems.
The facility is part of a 5,500-square-meter manufacturing and support center equipped with advanced testing and repair capabilities for customers in Italy and the surrounding regions.
According to L3Harris, the WESCAM MX-Series comprehensive customer care ecosystem provides local in-house support with dedicated maintenance and repair lines. Field service representatives, composed of engineers, technicians and service specialists, are also available 24/7 to conduct on-site operations.
Tom Kirkland, vice president and general manager of L3Harris’ targeting and sensor systems, said the opening of the latest WASC marks a first step in the company’s expansion efforts in NATO member countries. “L3Harris continues to demonstrate its commitment to localization and providing customized solutions for our customers’ unique challenges,” the executive added.
The WESCAM MX-Series products are used for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and target acquisition missions from platforms in various domains. A key client is the U.S. Special Operations Command, which uses the EO/IR and laser designator sensor system for enhanced situational awareness and targeting and designation capabilities. L3Harris has delivered over 7,000 WESCAM MX-Series systems globally, supporting ISR and target acquisition missions across 86 countries.
